Our much loved Italian chef and all round riot in the kitchen, Ann Vanderzalm, returned to her beloved Italy again last year and has been missed dearly by many S+S regulars. We’ve convinced her to make a little return to the S+S kitchen to cook up some of her all time favourite Italian dishes.

Annie’s cooking and hospitality credentials are impressive, cheffing and managing at some of Gippsland’s favourite dining venues including The Grange, The Chambers,  Brandy Creek Winery and Big Spoon Little Spoon. She’s most recently revolutionised the canteen for the lucky student’s at St Paul’s Anglican Grammar School.  However, it is her peasant style Italian fare that we are most fond of food straight from the heart, learned at the hip of her Italian grandmother and time spent living in the city of Lucca with her family. 

During Annie’s time at String + Salt she entertained us with her delicious food and delicious storytelling. We know she has a few more fabulous stories and recipes up her sleeve. 

Come along and learn to make some of Ann’s best loved dishes including sautéed radicchio + chevre crostini, Pici all’aglione, and Torta di Lucca.
