Book an Experience

Saffron is the pinnacle of spice luxury. Painstakingly hand harvested from the Crocus sativus, the saffron threads are not only the world’s most expensive spice, it is also one of the world’s most misunderstood.

We’re delighted to welcome Sandra Pietrolungo to the S+S Kitchen to share her passion for this amazing spice. Sandra’s ‘labour of love’ is growing, picking and processing her own saffron by hand in the green rolling hills of South Gippsland for her own label, Hocus Crocus.

This class will kick off with an informative sessions on saffron including how it is grown, influence of terrior, why it is so expensive and how to get the best out of your saffron purchase.

Partnering with String + Salt owner Michelle, you’ll learn to prepare and cook with saffron for snacks, savoury and dessert dishes.

Best of all you’ll even get to take home some saffron of your own to try out the dishes at home.
